The G500 interfaces Legacy protocol devices to a 10/100BaseT Ethernet network. The G500 converts the data from serial devices using RS-232C or V.35 at speeds up to 56 KB. The Legacy equipment can be directly attached or modem connected.

The G500 can support a 100 addresses in any combination of controller/terminal. The individual addresses are mapped to TCP/IP sessions (sockets) for processing by the TCP device. The G500 support host and terminal emulation for a wide variety of Legacy protocols and Client or Server emulation for TCP or UDP.

The Gateways can be ordered with Frame Relay connections using an internal or external DSU. With the frame port, the Gateways provide a complete router replacement with full protocol conversion.
