Serial Protocol Conversion with Fallback
Operation Diagram
In this example, the G530 provides protocol conversion between
an SNA/SDLC network and a bisync network. The G530 accepts the SNA
data in one port and immediately route the converted data to a second
serial port for transmission to the other network. The G530 supports
host and terminal emulation for all of the available protocols.
A second path is also illustrated in this diagram. The G530's Ethernet
port is used when the second serial port is not available (no poll
activity, etc.). When the alternate path is activated, the SNA data
will be converted to TCP/IP for transmission to a second G530. This
G530 will convert the data from TCP/IP to bisync for transmission
to a different host. The IP connection can be through a HUB, router
or other device.
