Host Routing Example
In this example, the G530 provides control and routing for devices
at branch banks. The G530 emulates a host (primary) to the devices
on the modem connection and then routes the data based upon the
remote terminal address. Data from the teller terminals will be
transferred to the IBM system unchanged as terminal (secondary)
data. Data from the ATMs will be converted to TCP/IP and sent to
the local server.
The G530 performs host control and data routing for the network.
This can simplify the migration to a new IP-based server by moving
applications in a controlled manner. The G530 can support up to
128 TCP/IP addresses and over serial 100 addresses on each port.
Other models of the Gateway can support more addresses.
