The remote host will consolidate and route ATM traffic to a Gateway 1000 over a frame circuit. The G1000 can provide protocol conversion, data manipulation or custom routing of the data. This capability can off-load processing from the host and provide improved performance.

In this example, the data from the first host will be Visa protocol inside the TCP packet. The G1000 will provide the Visa protocol processing for the message and pass valid data to the other system. The second system does not have to be aware of VISA protocol or processing.
