Central Site Conversion for ATMs Network Diagram (12.3 KB)

The Gateway (in this example, a Gateway C112) emulates a group of polled terminals to the host. The data from the host is converted to TCP/IP for transmission to IP-based ATMs. This conversion is useful when the ATMs have been converted to TCP/IP or Telnet while the host still only supports the original serial protocols.

The C112 will accept polls from the host and convert the data to TCP/IP or Telnet. The C112 appears as a Telnet Server to the ATMs and will accept a connection after the host begins polling the C112. The C112 will perform the option negotiations and data conversion required for the Telnet or TCP application. This conversion will allow the ATM to immediately access existing applications without changes.
